He drives, she smiles,
Too fast by 30 miles.
Skid marks, screaming,
Must be dreaming.
Headlights, rain pours,
Tree dents the doors.
Slam, hit the tree,
Off the road, can't breathe.
Heart beat, he's gone.
What has she done?
She weeps, they stare.
Can't breathe this air.
Flashbacks, the crash,
Car's a pile of ash.
Lawyer, the court,
Evidence to sort.
Tree, skids, the car.
She wishes on a star,
"From this dream may I awake,
If only for my love's sake."
She cries her tears,
No one knows her fears.
Now she will live in pain.
May not stay sane,
For much longer.
Confusion sits among her.
Forever more, she's lost,
Feelings are tossed.
No reason to go on.
All hope is gone.
No use to defend.
This is her end.

Author's Comments

A poem about a boy and his girlfriend driving too fast in a car at night. They crash (hence the title) and it talks about the pain the girl feels, because her boyfriend is gone forever.

very nice. i just wrote a story about a car crash, and so i was loking for more stories of this topic for inspiration, and i found this. i love the way that you put it all together in choppy sentences, but still have it work great.
very nice.

I was just in a crash myself so I wanted to see what other people think, and this is just what it feels like.

Sad, but ingenious.
